Rowrah Rotax ABkC Round 3: 5.6.05

NEWSLETTER

Jack Harvey and Philip Harkness were runaway leaders in MiniMax and Rotax Max respectively, whilst behind them the others were slowed as they fought. Adam Christodoulou drove a controlled race from the front in Juniors but later Harvey, Christodoulou, Lewis Reeves and Jordan Chamberlain were all excluded from the meeting and have to count two maximum minus scores in their points. Their engines were found to be ineligible when later stripped down with non standard modified parts.

A Final: Tom Grice briefly took the lead from local expert and polesitter Jamie Little then Harvey took over pulling out a cushion as the others fought. Grice managed to hold onto second, but Lewis Reeves and Little had to give best to the fast climbing Jordan Chamberlain, coming from ninth.

A Final: Despite a brief off in a heat, Christo still lined up on the front row, and sliced underneath poleman Greg Harper at Paddock on the first tour. Tom Arme slipped back to sixth, leaving David Sutton to fight with Chris Palmer for the hotly contested third place. In the end Sutton got a break, and Sam Bennett was on Palmer’s tail over the line.

Results: Harper, Sutton, Palmer, Bennett, Thomas Arme.

ABkC Rotax Max

Qualifying: Chris Trott, Philip Harkness, Daniel Holland.

Heat winners: John Boyd, Philip Harkness, Richie Steele, Daniel Russell, Jamie Allison, Harkness, Denis Gorman

B Final: Phil English, Lee Jenner, Chris Trott, Karl Haxton

A Final: Tristram Oman hit the front from pole but Harkness came out ahead on the first lap. Then Harkness escaped leaving a massively entertaining fight for second, losing them all time. Iain Inglis nipped past David Bellchambers for second, but his chain came off, possibly on a kerb. He eventually restarted for last place. Oman and Bellchambers took turns to lead the frantic second place battle. Chris Lock had hauled himself up from a grid fourteen start to join the lead group, reaching fourth and displacing Glen Denny who had been keeping a watching brief. But it was Oman who crossed the line second after Bellchambers admitted to a small mistake.

Results: Harkness, Oman, Bellchambers, Chris Lock, Glen Denny.

Rowrah Rumblings

Several drivers were penalised for failing to obey officials, leaving parc fermé without permission.

Top Super ICC gearbox driver Mark Fell demonstrated the Rotax RM1 two speeder round the Rowrah circuit at the lunch break.

James Bean endured a day to forget. Without a transponder on the kart for timed qualifying, he was last, then he was involved with several incidents through the heats. Eventually he came off at the first corner of the B Final, saying he would not be continuing in Super One this year.
