Provisional congratulations to Justin Edgar in 100 National, racking up another title for the talented karting family, and MacKenzie Taylor who virtually wrapped up the Cadet title. The other three series will go to the wire at Shenington with all to play for.

Gary Catt’s luck lasted this time, for two wins, whilst in JICA Oliver Rowland and Will Stevens took the top honours. Although taking the first ICA win, Matthew Bell ended the second in the tyres, with Danny Cruttenden winning. 100 National was the province of Scott Baines, and Cadets that of Max Goff.

Elf/B4/Renault MSA British Kart Championship

Qualifying: Jason Edgar 55.61, Craig Copeland, Riki Christo (Wet)

Heat 1: Christo, Gary Catt, Mark Litchfield.

Heat 2: Christo, Catt, David Gregory.

Final 1: Christo (from pole) and Litchfield traded the lead in the early laps, until Catt stormed past both. Chris Rogers came up to 6th from the back.

Results Final 1: Catt, Litchfield, Christo, Gregory, Jason Parrott.

Final 2: Catt, Litchfield and Christo all shared the early lead, but Catt went back to 4th, and Christo to 5th, both recovering but split by Roger’s continued charge.

Results Final 2: Catt, Rogers, Christo, Gregory, Litchfield.

Elf/B4/Renault MSA British Junior Kart Champs

Qualifying: Oliver Rowland 60.4, Ollie Millroy, Brett Parris. (Wet)

Heat 1: Rowland, Millroy, Scott Jenkins.

Heat 2: Lee Bell, Craig Breen, Robert Butler.

Final 1: Will Stevens had to work hard from the back of the heat grids after a thrown chain in qualifying. After a slow start, with Breen leading off, Rowland nabbed victory on the last lap after a battle with Millroy.

Results Final 1: Rowland, Jenkins, Stevens, Millroy, Bell.

Final 2: Stevens moved ahead of Jenkins and withstood the pressure to win. In his battle with Rowland, Jenkins ran wide onto the grass, gifting Millroy third.

Results Final 2: Stevens, Rowland, Millroy, Jenkins, Richard Bradley.

Elf/B4/Renault ABkC ICA

Qualifying: Danny Cruttenden 45.63, Richard Kent, Tom Armour.

Heat 1: Benjy Russell, Cruttenden, Henry Arundel.

Heat 2: Russell, Armour, Cruttenden.

Final 1: Matthew Bell worked his way past Kent and then Russell to lead. After Cruttenden recovered from his poor start, he came back to pressure Bell’s lead.

Results Final 1: Bell, Cruttenden, Russell, Kent, Tom Brown.

Final 2: Cruttenden redeemed himself with a great start this time, Bell only briefly ahead before dropping to third behind Armour, with Russell leading a big battle for fourth. Bell decided not to settle for third, clashing with Armour, ending his race and match point in the tyres. Armour was adjudged at fault and later excluded from second, also losing his appeal.

Results Final 2: Cruttenden, Russell, Daniel Rowbottom, David Batch, Marc Wood.

Elf/B4 ABkC 100 National

Heats: Scott Baines, Justin Edgar, Dane Smith.

A Final: Baines enjoyed a lights to flag victory, holding off team-mate James Russell. Edgar recovered well from one bad heat to come up to third and provisionally clinch the championship at his home circuit.

Results: Baines, Russell, Edgar, Smith, Alex Morgan.

Elf/B4 ABkC Formula Cadet

Heat winners: Nicholas Cristofaro, Francis Harrold, MacKenzie Taylor

A Final: With pole place Taylor had the bagful of points he needed for a safe run in the final. He was content to watch Max Goff and James Godbehere battle for the lead, with Ashley Jones coming through for third with fastest lap.

Results: Goff, Godbehere, Jones, Taylor, Harrold.

Rowrah rumours

Cadet Pany Sofocleous was excluded from the meeting for a technical infringement. Matthew Bell received a reprimand and two points for his gestures after the controversial coming together with Tom Armour in the ICA Final.
