Hill House Hammond MSA British Kart Championship

Qualifying (wet): Charles 49.86, Jarvis (49.9), Rogers (50.06), Williams (50.24), Hession (50.25), Rochford (50.33) Spencer (50.38) with title contenders Conway and Panrucker back in 13th and 14th.

Jason Williams won the first heat, from a resurgent Michael Spencer, then James Wright and Jarvis. The other heat had Spencer snatching the win from Jarvis with Williams next, to give Spencer pole for Final 1, Williams alongside, with Jarvis and Gareth Hession sharing the second row. Spencer led off with Jarvis following but Williams was pushed wide by Hession, losing both many places. Jarvis had a clear edge, powering past Spencer and never again headed. Michael Conway took James Wright then made a great move on Mark Litchfield soon giving Spencer the same treatment for second.

Final 2 saw five drivers trying slicks on the drying circuit. Jarvis stormed to the front within a few hundred yards, while Michael Conway dropped to midfield after a nudge. Spencer spun as Wright lost a rear wheel. Jarvis’ lead was short-lived, as the fast starting Dean Panrucker now took over, Jarvis temporarily back to fourth but fighting back for the lead again. All eyes were on the title contenders. Conway scythed his way back through the field up to second while his title rival fell back down the order, the crown slipping from his grasp. As the slicks came on so Spencer, Sheader and Rochford started to fly – another lap or two and their gamble would have worked. In the end it was Jason Williams who took the win from champion Conway. Mark Rochford, the first finisher on slicks, coming fourth, from Chris Trott and slick shod Fraser Sheader. Final 1: Jarvis, Conway, Litchfield, Williams, Hession, Panrucker. Final 2: Williams, Conway, Jarvis, Rochford, Trott, Sheader.

ABkC Formula 100C

Heat Wins: Whitby, Smith, Jakins, Jiggins. B Final: Wilson, Styrin, Dickenson, Halls. A Final: James Mills and Mansel Smith traded the lead, sometimes paint too, letting James Whitby up to join them. But Mills stayed ahead to claim the win and championship. Michael Holloway held off Ashley Todd for fourth. Result: Mills, Smith, Whitby, Holloway, Todd, Jakins.

ABkC Formula TKM

Heat wins: Quinlan, Crockett, Clucas, Lamare x 2. B Final: Hobbs, Scott, Parker, Hookey.

A Final: Chris Lamare was on dominant form, steadily extending his winning margin over a huge battle for second and the overall championship. Contender James Hobbs had earlier been in a clash with Sam Quinlan, and to compound his misery he spun at the opening corner in the A final. The remaining contenders, Quinlan and Ben Clucas, scrapped with Adrian Crockett and James Gornall. Quinlan got alongside Clucas in the chicane on the last lap, and as they emerged Clucas was eased over the kerbs to drop to fifth, Quinlan the new champion. Result: Lamare, Quinlan, Crockett, Gornall, Clucas, Davies.

ABkC Champion ICA

Heat Wins: Griffiths, Gardner, Walker, Eldridge, Nash. B Final: Wilson, Andrews, Flory, Yorke.

A Final: An early pile-up brought out the reds and proved to Griffiths that slicks were not the way to go. With all on wets for the restart, Neil Walker dominated. Ed Pead caught him towards the end but second was not enough, with Iain Inglis’ fifth place keeping him on course for the title. Barry Eldridge seized out of second and Jason Gardner sliced up to third from grid sixteen. Result: Walker, Pead, Gardner, Edgar, Inglis, Ellis.

Shenington Snippets

Adrian Coles went home £200 lighter after disobeying a Clerk’s instruction not to restart after breaking his exhaust. He earned two endorsements… Get well messages go to Martin Pierce, who suffered a very badly bruised leg in a first lap four kart pile up in the ICA final, and Sam Dickie who also escaped with bad bruising.

Junior Series Roundup from PFI

Ben Hanley and Alexander Sims left PFI virtually assured of this year’s Super 1 titles in JICA and Cadet with only Buckmore to go. Paul di Resta led qualifying and went on to win both his heats, with Parkes taking the other. In the first final, Hanley swooped round the outside of front row sitters di Resta and Parkes but the Scotsman’s superior pace soon told, and di Resta led again. Hanley became embroiled in a battle with Parkes, Ian Johnstone and Russell Love but his extreme defensive lines later earned him a five place penalty. In the second final, di Resta broke away immediately, but this time Russell Love threw off his pursuers and made chase. By mid-race and with a brief kiss of rear wheels, Love had the lead putting di Resta on the defensive from the approaching Jordan Wise. A desperate move fired Love off violently and earned exclusion for the Scot. This let Wise slip by for the win, leaving Johnstone second and Gonzalez third.

In TKM Inters Alex Mortimer and Ian Parsons traded the lead for several laps until Luke Johnson came through to win, Mortimer following… Alexander Sims tracked Craig Dolby for lap after lap in Cadet, then sliced ahead only for Dolby to retake the lead on the last half lap. Oliver Oakes had a flier of a start in Junior TKM, but Paul Wilson reeled him in, took the lead and kept it until the flag. Philip English got his nose up inside the challenging Philip Turvey at the start of the Junior Yamaha and never looked back. Spinning Turvey recovered from last to second, ahead of James Bean.
