ELF HILL HOUSE HAMMOND S1 SENIOR SERIES: ROWRAH

SENIOR S1 AT ROWRAH: 3.10.99 - FINAL ROUND

Michael Spencer fought back from a relegation to the back of qualifying to win both finals and lift the MSA British Kart Championship. Although quickest in qualifying on a damp track, a scrutineering card discrepancy had him put to the back of the grids for the heats. Justin Edgar, Lars Sexton and Neil Doran were next quickest. Spencer fought through for eighth and fourth in the heats, the first won by Edgar, the second by Panrucker who did not finish the other. In the first final Spencer made short shrift of the four in front and soon established a lead, followed by Panrucker, Edgar and Stevie Morris. The young ace was never headed in the second final. Panrucker tried hard to keep in touch, then let Morris through to see if he could make an impression. None was made, so Panrucker retook second. After polesitter Jay Howard came off in a clash of karts, Mike Mills inherited the lead in the Intercontinental A class. But Tom Ferrier was soon through to romp away for the win, new ABkC National Champion Fraser Sheader in third ahead of Darron Gibbs and David Griffiths. Gareth Hession took an unchallenged win in Formula 100C to wrap up the national title from Stewart Baker and James Mills, co-incidentally finishing in the same order in the last race. An eligibility inquiry leaves the results of Formula TKM provisional but Graham Hill won the final on his Verde, with Jonathan Davies' second placed Biz kart being sent for further ezamination. Adrian Coles, on a Spirit in third, will have done enough to take the overall title. The other championship contender Chris Lamare, DNF'd a heat, won the B Final but made no progress in the A.
