ELF HILL HOUSE HAMMOND S1 JUNIOR SERIES: BUCKMORE PARK
JUNIOR S1 AT BUCKMORE PARK: 10.10.99 - FINAL ROUND
Oliver Jarvis, Ben Clucas, Philip English and Ian Johnstone took the titles but none of those were on the podiums. That honour fell first to Ben Hanley in the JICA category. Iain Inglis topped qualifying from Ed Tilley, Ben Hanley, Paul di Resta and championship leader Jarvis who went on to only seventh in his first heat, then was sideswiped and lost his chain in the second. Hanley won his two heats, di Resta the other. In the first final, Hanley led most laps but had to fight off a challenge from Alex Lloyd and then Christian Bakkerud. Jarvis made a good start to eighth from the back, but no further progress. His greatest rival Chris Rogers had a puncture so missed practice and qualified only twelfth. He finished sixth in the first final, effectively sealing Jarvis' MSA British title. In the second final, Hanley led from start to finish, Bakkerud tracking him throughout. Lloyd took an early hit dropping him from third to seventh. Paul di Resta fought his way up to fourth behind Ed Tilley, with Chris Rogers making a last gasp pass for fifth. For Junior TKM, Ben Clucas, like Ian Johnstone in Yamaha, signed on and practiced but with the titles won neither raced. TKM vice-champion Richard Evans drove superbly for second, but it was to be Paul Wilson's day at the top of the podium. In Cadets, winner Bradley Ellis summed up the race: "It was quite frantic, and any of the three of us could have won." Oliver Oakes and Jeremy Metcalfe followed him home with Philip English's seventh enough for the title. Despite a red flag, Liam Walters was never headed in Yamaha, Jack Willis making a late pass on Craig Davis.
