(includes TV Coverage details)

Rain tyres were the order for the race morning at the popular Scottish circuit, home to the West of Scotland Kart Club. The sun came out by lunchtime, but it was Race 13 before anyone risked slicks.

TV coverage from Rowrah has started with JICA. Junior TKM provisionally on August 29th. Check your SkySport listings for times & repeats of the Fastrax programme.

Hill House Hammond MSA British Junior Kart Champs

Qualifying: Conditions did not change sufficiently to favour the last out. Paul di Resta set a 45.64 in the first group, good for fifth, then James Kirkpatrick did a 45.49 for fourth. Local ace Ian Johnstone stepped up with a stunning 45.39 pole time on his first lap, his second slower with a mistake. Ben Hanley got close with his 45.40, as did last out Jordan Wise on 45.42.

Heats: Di Resta was swift to take the lead from Johnstone in the first heat, Hanley third. A massive pile-up in the complex left Hanley and di Resta out on their own in heat two, with David Batch coming through to third. Russell Love took heat three on the last lap from James Kirkpatrick.

Final 1: Hanley and di Resta went head to head, the Scot initially strong ahead of Kirkpatrick with Hanley waiting for his kart to come on. When it did, he stormed to the front and threw off a late challenge by Love, with Parkes ahead of di Resta whilst Johnstone retired from tenth.

Final 2: Hanley and Love quickly pulled out a gap on Russell Parkes, Rodolfo Gonzalez and di Resta. Love managed about half a lap in the lead, but the move put Parkes in touch, and he snatched second, gifting Hanley a cushion to the flag with Parkes following. But behind, Love took a wide line in the middle hairpin for a final attack only for Gonzalez to fill the space. Love pushed Gonzalez wide at the next right-hander, a protest at the end resulting in a two place penalty for Love to give Gonzalez back the third place, di Resta in fourth. The Venezuelan also claimed fastest lap on 39.63s.

ABkC Formula Cadet

Heat Wins: Sims x 2, Martin-Dye, R. Christodoulou.

Final: From pole Sims led, but Martin-Dye dived in from third to lead demoting Riki C. to fourth. With Metcalfe the four seemed glued together for lap after lap, Sims back in the lead. Jordan Oakes could just see them in the distance, with Craig Dolby heading the next group. At the tail, Riki sliced up the inside of fast Freddie, then Jeremy and he put Alex to the outside. Martin-Dye caught up and took first Sims then Christodoulou on the last lap.

Result: Jeremy Metcalfe, Freddie Martin-Dye, Riki Christodoulou, Alexander Sims, Jordan Oakes, Craig Dolby.

ABkC Formula Junior TKM

Heat wins: Robertson, Coombes, Sargent, Hill, Adam, Barden.

B Final: McDonald, Roberts, Eastwood, Gibb.

A Final: Steven Barden simply drove off into the distance leaving a massive battle for second. Jonathan Adam lost this place to George Lovell, but Sam Hill had amazing traction and took over. Lovell’s lunge to reclaim it went wrong putting both on the grass. Lovell only dropped a couple of places but Hill restarted at the back. This contretemps let through Jonathan Adam with Paul Wilson on his tail. Jonathan Robertson was given a five place penalty to tenth for his driving standard.

Results: Steven Barden, Jonathan Adam, Paul Wilson, George Lovell, Oliver Oakes, Robert Morris.

ABkC TKM Junior Intermediate

Heat wins: Higham, Ellingham, Johnson.

A Final: Alex Mortimer displaced Micky Higham then shook the pack off his back. Luke Johnson took over second but as his kart went off, Higham thought he saw a chance only to crash over the top of Johnson bringing out the red flag. They kept their places on the countback, Mortimer unhappy not to have had the pleasure of seeing the chequer. Hayley Gaj had just taken Martin Ellingham in time, behind Ben Hitch.

Results: Alex Mortimer, Luke Johnson, Micky Higham, Ben Hitch, Hayley Gaj, Martin Ellingham.

Formula Junior Yamaha

Heat Wins: Bean, Turvey, Ross.

A Final: A thin field saw James Bean with a commanding lead, only reeled in during the closing stages by Oliver Turvey, once he had disposed of Kevin Ross and Philip English. Turvey was recovering from a Heat 1 exclusion.

Results: James Bean, Oliver Turvey, Kevin Ross.

Tartan Titbits… In a 50-50 mixed grid of slick-shod and wets, Cadet Freddie Martin-Dye stayed on wets, and from the second last row came to fourth on the first lap, then carved through to win heat three… JICA pilots Kristopher Baillie and Tom Horley were absent from Larkhall, both having lost their licences at the previous week’s PFI Kartmasters meeting… With many people on holiday, only the Junior TKM needed a B Final… The next Senior round is at Clay Pigeon on 27th August, the Juniors resume at PFI on 3rd September.
